The Story of Little Rose Cookie Co.: From Humble Beginnings to a Thriving Bakery

When I started Little Rose Cookie Co. from home in 2017, I had no idea what the future would hold. At the time I was a single mom, balancing being a new parent with my newfound passion for cookie decorating. What began as a fun ‘side hustle’ on maternity leave quickly grew into a full-blown business, fueled by the support of family, friends and customers who appreciated the love and care I put into every cookie.

By 2019, the demand for my custom sugar cookies had grown beyond what my home kitchen could handle. I realized it was time to take the leap and open a bakery. On March 7th 2020, Little Rose Cookie Co. officially opened its doors, and for a brief moment, everything seemed to be falling into place. Then, just ten days later, the world changed. COVID-19 forced stores to shut down, and like so many small business owners, I was left wondering what would come next.

But giving up was never an option. Through those uncertain months, I poured my energy into finding creative ways to keep the bakery afloat. Thanks to an incredible community of supporters—and plenty of late nights—we made it through. Looking back now, I’m so grateful for the challenges because they taught me resilience and helped shape Little Rose Cookie Co. into what it is today.

Over the years, Little Rose Cookie Co. has had many chapters. I’ve learned a lot, especially the importance of focusing on what I do best. For us, that’s custom sugar cookies. They’ve always been the star of the show, and I love creating beautiful designs that bring joy to people’s special moments. But we’ve also expanded in exciting ways since opening the bakery. Today, we offer stuffed drop cookies, paint-your-own cookies, cookie decorating kits, Italian amaretti cookies, classic cookie three-packs, and more.

One question I get asked all the time is, “Are you Rose?” The answer is no, I’m Stephanie—but the name Little Rose Cookie Co. has a deeply personal meaning. When I was brainstorming names, I loved the idea of “Little [Something] Cookie Co.” Roses have always been special to me because they remind me of my grandfather, who was the heart of our family. To honor him, I gave my first daughter the middle name Rose. For me, roses represent family, and family is at the core of what I do. I’m so proud to create cookies for family milestones, celebrations, and cherished moments. Little Rose Cookie Co. felt like the perfect name for a business that’s all about spreading joy and love and celebrating special occasions.

One of the proudest moments for Little Rose Cookie Co. came in 2023 when I competed on the Food Network’s Christmas Cookie Challenge and won! Being recognized for my craft on such a big stage was surreal and reaffirmed what I love to do: bringing people joy through delicious, high-quality cookies. Eddie Jackson and Ree Drummond’s enthusiastic reactions to my cookies were unforgettable—they were genuinely thrilled, and their excitement gave me a sense of pride in my craft that I’ll carry with me forever!

Running this bakery hasn’t always been easy, but it’s been worth every challenge. Whether it’s designing custom cookies for a wedding, creating holiday gift boxes, or welcoming families into the bakery, my goal has always been to make Little Rose Cookie Co. a place that feels warm and special. I’m so grateful for the journey so far and for every customer who has been part of it.
